LEADPrep considers constant communication between parent/guardians and teachers to be VITAL to our day to day work with students.
Our teachers want to support our parents and our parents want to share useful information about our students with the teachers who work with them every day.
I am reminded of the message I brought home to my parents from my kindergarten teacher. She told them “I promise to believe only 20% of what your child says about you if you promise to only believe 20% of what your child tells you about me.”
It is as true now as it was then!
Misunderstandings can creep in where constant communication – both with each other and with the student- is not a high priority.
Consider this letter from a horrified mother of a small child.
Parents being engaged in their child’s school work is just as important as talking to the teacher who assigns the work!
We share a precious trust, and our collaboration and communication can not only avoid embarrassing situations like this one, but can also strengthen and foster confidence in our students.
