Across the country, schools are closing their doors and moving to distance learning in the wake of COVID-19 and coronavirus. It’s a scary time for everyone.
Some schools have a plan in place and are ready to deliver quality lessons to students. Many are not ready, however school boards are compelled to close school doors anyway in an effort to prevent further spread of illness.
LEADPrep operates with a flipped learning style, meaning our students consume educational content at home (through our teachers’ pre-class brief video lessons), then come to school ready to discuss and implement. We believe this model has made us uniquely prepared to deal with real-time online learning.
Children need a community around them–which of course includes peers and teachers. This is especially true in times like these, when everything seems “off” and different. Sadly, it’s our students with unique needs that feel these tumultuous times the most.
During the coronavirus outbreak, distance learning is on all our minds and the virtual doors of LEADPrep will remain open. Classes will feel a little different, since we’ll be meeting online via Zoom. But we will be in class synchronously (with students and teachers meeting together in the same daily schedule as always). No figuring out assignments on their own. Each child has their Chromebook and teacher support as always.
If you’re in the Seattle area and your child’s school is closed for the foreseeable future, you are welcome at LEADPrep. Let’s work together to ensure your child continues to learn and thrive in today’s climate. Contact us today.
