Hello LEADPrep Families,
I’m Joyce Kidd-Miller, parent of Ella H who is a 10th grader in Kirkland, and the Lead for the Classroom Support Team. First of all, I want to thank all of you who support LEADPrep teachers and classrooms in so many ways: sending food for teachers’ lunches, coming to meetings and student conferences, supporting your student at home so they can come to class ready to participate, volunteering to drive for the Winter Intensive week in January, organizing supplies in Seattle (THANKS Emily) and in Kirkland (THANKS Alicia). Some of that support is ongoing and some is a one-time effort. Some are noticeable while others often fall under the radar. ALL are important!
There was not a formal structure in place for parents to support classrooms at the beginning of the year, however, we are now more organized and looking for parents who can help in the following ways:
*Someone to be the Lead for Classroom Support in Seattle
*Several someones to help supervise stations in Spanish classes. For times click on the link in the Loop. No need to know Spanish, although it might be helpful. If not, it might be a great way to begin learning another language and model for the students what it is like to be a learner and know less than they do ;). See Classroom Help@LEADPrep for specific times and slots.
*Several more drivers for the week of intensives the last week in January as well as volunteers to assist with organization and logistics leading up to that week. See Events@LEADPrep for specific slots.
*Someone who knows a source for a donation of a second projector for each campus.
THANKS for considering the above possibilities. If you have any questions, comments, or confusions, please do not hesitate to ask. Once we hear of other requests from teachers and/or staff, we will let you know of further options. In the meantime, you can contact me by e-mail at joycekm@nwlink.com or find me at drop off or pick up times in Kirkland.
Onward to coordinating another important part of the LEADPrep community,
Joyce
