Occupations in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) fields are growing at 17% annually, according to the U. S. Department of Commerce. Other occupations are growing at only 9.8%! The old adage that a nurse can always find a job is true – but it’s also becoming true for other professions as well – especially STEM professions.
Students who graduate from higher learning with STEM degrees have a higher income even in non-STEM careers. Workers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields play a key role in the growth and stability of the U.S. economy. Even if they use their degrees in non-STEM jobs, the critical thinking and creativity learned in STEM classes gives them a leg up over other employees for promotions and higher pay.
We emphasize STEM education here at LEADPrep. We work hard to create critical thinkers, increase science literacy, and create the next generation of innovators. Innovation leads to new or better iterations of products, services, and processes that sustain our economy. Most jobs of the future will require a firmer understanding of math and science than our ancestors needed. Our student’s ability to compete with a solid knowledge base in STEM subjects will be vital to an increase in innovation.
More Personal Prosperity
It’s clear that technology is becoming more and more pervasive in most of our lives. We know our children are CONSUMERS of technology. This type of learning will ensure that our students are CREATORS with technology. LEADPrep provides our children with a firm grasp on how technology works and how it work for us. Knowing how technology makes our lives easier and more comfortable will give them fuller lives and more personal prosperity.
