Leaders not only have vision, they have the communication skills to inspire others to move the vision forward. We want our teens to be leaders empowered with excellent communication skills. A proven resource is Toastmasters International. With a global network of over 14,000 clubs in 126 countries, Toastmasters uses a process that builds leadership capacity, while honing public speaking skills.
LEADPrep is beginning the third year of Eloquence Gavel Club meetings. Gavel Clubs are a teen branch of Toastmasters; LEADPrep’s are free-of-charge and open to all middle and high school students. Weekly meetings begin Wednesday, October 7, from 2:30-3:30pm, hosted at the Kirkland Teen Union Building (KTUB).
What do students say about Gavel Club experience? “Even though I’m shy, now I know how to get up and speak in front of others. It’s not so scary anymore.” “I was told that I gave the best interview of all the candidates. My public speaking skills made the difference and I got the job!” “I like the improv. It’s fun taking a table topic and finding a way to talk about it for at least a minute.”
Bring your middle or high school student to Eloquence Gavel Club on Wednesday. It’s time to build leadership skills and master public speaking!
