Lake Washington is often perceived as the great divide. That isn’t going to stop LEADPrep Academy! Families on both sides of the “pond” deserve easy access to our personalized, innovative teaching model. To provide this, we are announcing the launch of a Seattle campus to open in the fall of 2017. The Seattle campus will serve up to 15 new 6th-10th grade students.
Our LEADPrep learning model will remain the same: flips, leadership, project-based, STEM, and an emphasis on kindness and service. (See details at lead-prep.org.) All teachers from both sites will collaborate and some will work at both sites. Experiential Fridays will unite students from both campuses for service projects, field trips, team building, and non-traditional Northwest PE.
When we were offered the opportunity to be housed at Ryther/Aspiring Youth’s extensive facilities in North Seattle, we jumped at the opportunity. This collaboration will include access to resources such as robotics teachers, the outdoor challenges course, after school activities, a covered basketball court, and vans with drivers. Adding these new resources to our own digital storytelling, Spanish, STEM, and core subject teachers will allow LEADPrep to become even more engaging and personalized.
Along with our Kirkland open houses and hosting students for a day-long visit, we will have spring parent information sessions on the NE 95th Street campus in Seattle. An immersion experience with week-long themes of digital storytelling will also be offered this summer on our Kirkland campus. Please share this exciting news with prospective families! Here’s to serving a greater number of wonderful middle and high school students!
